The best memory care happens when a residence feels like a home, not just a facility. At Gianna Homes, that warmth comes from caring for the whole person in body, mind, and spirit. We make joyful movement a familiar part of the day, especially during our weekly exercise groups. Through our partnership with Above & Beyond Senior Services, we bring personalized, supportive wellness right through our front door.

Why Movement Still Matters

For so many of our residents, a life of movement is part of their story. They were gardeners with dirt under their fingernails, walkers who knew every crack in their neighborhood sidewalk, or partners who danced in their kitchens while dinner was on the stove.

That natural rhythm doesn’t just disappear, and our goal is to honor it. Gentle, consistent exercise carries that lifelong habit forward. It helps our residents feel more independent, steady on their feet, and confident in their own bodies. Just as importantly, it lifts their spirits and promotes more restful sleep.

Our Work with Above & Beyond Senior Services

We’ve partnered with Above & Beyond, a Twin Cities-based senior therapy group, to bring weekly exercise sessions into our Minnetonka and Plymouth homes. These aren’t high-intensity workouts or cookie-cutter classes. Each session is tailored to the needs and abilities of our residents.

The exercises focus on improving strength and stability in a gentle, low-pressure way. Movement may be seated or standing, depending on the individual, and sessions often include stretching, resistance work, or balance-focused activities. Our goal is to help each person move comfortably and confidently.

The focus is always on comfort. An instructor might lead gentle stretches from a chair as our own caregivers share a smile or offer a supportive hand. The mood is light and encouraging. Residents are simply invited to join in, move in a way that feels good, and enjoy being part of a warm, familiar routine. There are no expectations, only open arms.

Small Steps with Big Impact

You see the impact in the small moments. It’s in the resident who walks to the dining room with a steadier, more confident stride. It’s in the shared laughter during a stretching session, even from those who are usually more reserved. It’s in the simple comfort of a weekly routine that brings people together.

This is what families tell us brings them peace: knowing their loved one is not just safe, but is also finding moments of joy and strength that lift their spirits and strengthen their bodies.

Supporting Strength, Inside and Out

At Gianna Homes, we believe that truly excellent care is built from small, meaningful moments. It’s the moment of stability a resident feels, the moment of shared laughter in a group, the moment of connection with a caregiver. Our weekly exercise program is designed to create these moments, reflecting our deep commitment to resident-centered support.

If this approach to memory care sounds like what you’re seeking for a loved one, we would love to connect. Contact us to learn more about our homes in Minnetonka and Plymouth, and how we help residents stay active and engaged, one step at a time.
